Biography: Dr. Sachse grew up on a dairy farm in Northeast Pennsylvania. The son of a school teacher and a historic land preservationist, Dr. Sachse knows what it means to work the land. Working the farm from an early age has given him great respect for hard work. Though the farm was always near and dear to his heart, Dr. Sachse knew at a young age that he wanted to be a physician. Dr. Sachse excelled in school and was admitted to medical school while still in high school through a unique program with Wilkes University and MCP Hahnemann University. Dr. Sachse attended Wilkes University where he spent 7 semesters earning his undergraduate degree in Biology and his 8th semester at Robert Packer Hospital as a Guthrie Scholar performing clinical research before attending medical school at MCP Hahnemann. Following medical school, Dr. Sachse moved to Pittsburgh, PA where he spent 5 years doing a general surgery residency program at Allegheny General Hospital. There, Dr. Sachse was given the strong foundation on which to build his career. His skills stood out from the beginning as he earned distinction as the Intern of the Year. Along with hard work, it was the US Army that helped Dr. Sachse make his dreams a reality. Dr. Sachse joined the military during his senior year of college under the Health Professions Scholarship Program and served his country after finishing his surgical training. Upon completion of his surgical residency, Dr. Sachse became active duty and was stationed at Fort Belvoir. Dr. Sachse was deployed twice to Iraq, in 2007 and 2009. There, Dr. Sachse quickly became the ``go-to`` surgeon. He cared for Iraqi civilians, ally forces, US contractors and US soldiers. Dr. Sachse received a Bronze Star for his meritorious service. At the end of his military commitment, Dr. Sachse decided to stay in Northern Virginia and enter private practice.

He continued his training by completing a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Louisville. He then joined the prestigious Georgetown University Medical School and served as an associate professor for nine years. Biography: Joseph Greene, MD, MBA, FACS, FASMBS, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in bariatric and general surgery with Capital Surgical Associates in Reston, Virginia, and is affiliated with Reston Hospital Center. Dr. Greene earned his Doctor of Medicine at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Coral Gables, Florida. He then completed his residency in general surgery with MedStar Health Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and a bariatric, robotic, and advanced laparoscopic surgery fellowship at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. Prior to his medical training, he earned a Master of Business Administration in Health Sector Management and Policy from University of Miami. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Jewish Studies from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Greene is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He speaks English and Spanish and has proficiency in Hebrew. He specializes in advanced, minimally-invasive and robotic surgical techniques for weight loss, hernia repair, reflux (GERD), and stomach and gallbladder conditions. Dr. Greene travels the country teaching surgical techniques to other specialists and currently serves on the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Access to Care Committee to expand access to obesity treatment services nationwide. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Medical Association. Dr. Greene has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at national and international conferences on many topics related to bariatric, robotic, and general surgery. As one of the top weight loss specialists in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area, he was recognized as a Top Doctor in Washingtonian Magazine in 2021, 2022, and 2023.When Dr. Greene isn't taking care of patients, he stays active with his wife and son and enjoys Peloton spin cycling, bicycling, distance running, and altitude hiking.
