Biography: Joseph Greene, MD, MBA, FACS, FASMBS, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in bariatric and general surgery with Capital Surgical Associates in Reston, Virginia, and is affiliated with Reston Hospital Center. Dr. Greene earned his Doctor of Medicine at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Coral Gables, Florida. He then completed his residency in general surgery with MedStar Health Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and a bariatric, robotic, and advanced laparoscopic surgery fellowship at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. Prior to his medical training, he earned a Master of Business Administration in Health Sector Management and Policy from University of Miami. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Jewish Studies from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Greene is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He speaks English and Spanish and has proficiency in Hebrew. He specializes in advanced, minimally-invasive and robotic surgical techniques for weight loss, hernia repair, reflux (GERD), and stomach and gallbladder conditions. Dr. Greene has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at national and international conferences on many topics related to bariatric, robotic, and general surgery.
