Biography: Dr. Antonio E. Gutierrez Mendiola, a board-certified family medicine specialist, completed his family medicine residency at Mayaguez Medical Center in 2024, following a medical internship at Auxilio Mutuo Hospital in Puerto Rico in 2021, and family medicine residencies at Amalia Simoni Hospital in Camaguey, Cuba, in 2012. Dr. Gutierrez Mendiola earned his medical degree summa cum laude from the University of Medical Sciences of Camaguey in 2010. He has co-authored research and presented findings at medical conferences, including the Academy of Family Physicians, Puerto Rico chapter, and the ACP Puerto Rico chapter. Dr. Gutierrez Mendiola volunteered and treated patients in Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia and Puerto Rico before completing his residencies and joining our center in 2024. With extensive experience working with older adults, he is committed to treating his patients with the same time, dedication, and care that he would give to his own loved ones. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, exercising, playing front tennis, and the beach.

Biography: Dr. Ana Maria Cristina Sanchez Monroig, a board-certified family medicine specialist, completed her hospice and palliative care fellowship at HCA Aventura Hospital in 2024, her family medicine residency at Mayaguez Medical Center, PR, in 2022, and earned her medical degree from Central Eastern University School of Medicine in 2015. Dr. Sanchez Monroig also holds a graduate certificate from Albizu University and a B.S. in General Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico and has presented research at medical conferences. Her accolades include the Excellence in Professionalism Award and the Institutional Commitment Award from Manati Medical Center. Before joining our center in 2024, Dr. Sanchez Monroig worked at A/C Step 2 CS Prep, preparing medical students for the USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills exam. Her experience treating seniors has reinforced her commitment to compassionate care. Passionate about advanced care planning and goals of care, she believes listening to her patients is vital to improving their well-being. In her free time, she enjoys family and friends, listening to music, and the outdoors.
