Biography: Ronak Patel, D.O. is a native Texan. He attended the University of Texas at Austin graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Economics. He went on to attend Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth Texas in which he graduated with honors. He was in the top 5 in his class and obtained the President's Scholar award, given to students who maintained Dean's list throughout every semester in college.Dr. Patel completed his surgical training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical Center. There he received extensive General Surgery and Trauma training at the Busiest Level 1 Trauma Center in the U.S. by physicians such as Dr. James "Red" Duke and Dr. John B Holcomb. He then went on to the University of South Florida for fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery. Training was extensive in Laparoscopic Foregut surgery including but not limited to Nissen Fundoplication, Distal Pancreatectomy, Splenectomy, Bowel resection, Colon surgery and Bariatric surgery with an emphasis on revisional surgeries.
