Yara Perez, LCPC

Yara has been the best therapist I have ever had. I truly believe that any negative responses to her clinical style are due to people not having motivation to take a real, honest look at themselves and put the work in to make changes. Yara is incredibly insightful & compassionate. I would highly recommend going to her for counseling.

My ex wife and I went to Yara for couples therapy. She was mean, yelled at me and lectured me for minutes for “interrupting” her, skipped right over the fact that my wife hit me. This was an issue for me, Yara ignored it completely. For a man with ptsd and some other emotional issues, being yelled at and belittled by our therapist was very painful and hurtful. I would describe her as the least professional person I’ve ever dealt with. She’s an overaggressive bully who lacks empathy. Stay away.

I can't recommend Yara enough! If you are seeking a therapist who is compassionate, and honest with you about how to improve your situation, Yara is amazing. I have had many therapists over the years, and few have extended the generosity of taking a phone call from me when I was in another state, late at night, while going through a very hard time. She also saw me with my partner, and helped us tremendously. We love her and wish we could've stayed in her area or taken her with us!

She sighed during my session and it really stuck with me. Very cold. Seemed irritated with me and my problems. Really needed support and ultimately stopped seeing her.

Tells you like it is. Finally a therapist that doesn't just listen and interacts with her patients!

Thankfully, Yara has been my therapist for almost 10 years. She has helped me to grow and approach so many of life's experiences: the happy, the sad, the new and unknown. Her counsel is deeply insightful, compassionate, and very honest, and she is willing to challenge you to grow. In my experience, she does so with kindness, humor and authenticity. Make no mistake, it can be hard sometimes! But if you're willing to do the work, you will get much out of the relationship.

I have been seeing Yara for a few years, and she has changed my life in the way I view my place in the world and the way I see and interact with other people. She has empowered me and supported me in my struggle to change what I can, and accept what I can't. She is strong enough to point out to me what I sometimes don't want to see, but is also compassionate and kind. I could not ask for a better therapist.

Yara was not helpful at all in our session. Her comments were offensive and not intended to help someone understand the human condition. She was condescending and rude. I've been to many therapist and she was the least professional person I've ever met.

I sent to yara for years before I moved out of state. She was kind But firm and always called me on my sh*t. I did not seek a therapist to make me feel good, but one to help me acknowledge and change my negative patterns and behaviors. Yara can help if you let go of your pride and listen.

My experience with Yara has been amazing. I'm very surprised by some of the other reviews on here. I don't find Yara to be judgemental, I think that she makes you own your decisions and doesn't let you excuse your bad behavior. A lot of counselors will simply be a "Yes Man" agreeing with you that you're a victim. Yara shows you your role in things and works with you to help change your reactions and feelings as you are the only person you can control. I highly recommend her to everyone I know.

Yara was awful! She was rude, accusatory and impatient with my wife and I in our first visit. She pointed blame and basically had the attitude that if you don't like what is going on in your life, just change it. No compassion. No thought to the sensitivities of feelings or other contributing factors. Stay far away!

Wow. Yara was awful. In the first five minutes of my one hour meeting I was questioning whether we were going to be a good fit. By the end, she had offended me twice and I was secretly fuming while trying to bite my tongue and remain polite. Not only did she totally lack any measure of tact or compassion, but she cut me off in the middle of about every thought and seemed to jump to some pretty disturbing conclusions without actually asking any probing questions.
