Dr. Vernon Peryea Jr, OD

Been going here for years. Equipment seems modern. However he told me I had the beginnings of macular degeneration. So I made appointment with retina specialist from University of Miami (a world renown eye center) and he clearly said my Hopewell doctor was wrong. A year after first visit with retina doctor, still no macular degeneration. Also BEWARE of his lens and frame shop. New lenses (poly, blue light and prizes) was over $700. Had exact same lenses replaced elsewhere for half of his rates.

I visited office on wednesday November 1. I wouldn't waste your time coming here. Staff is not friendly at all. One young lady seems to have all the burden of the office on her. I was able to have a conversation with her and she brought up how she's been doing majority of the office duties since the main girl quit 2 months ago. Another lady seemed to be outside a lot, I was there for almost 2 hours and she went out twice in that time period holding a cigarette.

Always able to get an appointment when needed. Doctor is kind and considerate. Excellent, pleasant office staff.

Dr. isn't very thorough. He will leave you waiting in the examination room while he visits with other patients so he can see multiple people at the same time. When he returns, he spends a few minutes with you and pushes you out the door. The office staff is absolutely terrible. I have never dealt with such rude and disorganized people in my life. They are too busy chatting and gossiping about nonsense to notice that a patient is even waiting to check out. Don't waste your time with this place.

Never notified when glasses are ready. They say 8 to 10 Days, more like 14+ Days. Waiting room is an issue. Eyeglassses given in a case that was too small to hold them. Number one complaint one lens pressure fractured on edges after one month. Generally flippant attitude with double checking Rx of glasses after repair. Walked in one door and right out of another and announced "They are spot on and "fine". Supplied my own frames and charged $400+ for bifocals. Damaged lens was not seated properly

Good luck trying to get through to them on the phone. You get put on hold and them repeatedly disconnected. Once you've made an appointment and when you show up for the appointment be prepared to wait a long time. Then you will be put in a room where you will wait some more. When I finally got my glasses and contacts, both were really screwed up.

Waiting again in the waiting room..why did I come back..my fault for sure. I made an appointment one month sgo. They called 3 x to confirm this,appointment. I changed my schedule, arrived on time and they are running iver half hour late. I am very annoyed.

My family and I have been using Dr. Peryea's Optometry service for the past several years. His exams are extremely thorough and include high resolution scans which he personally analyzes immediately to detect any issues. His Peekskill office is modern, clean and staffed with knowledgable aids and clerical staff that are friendly and helpful. He stocks a large selection of frames, contact lenses and sunglasses. I've always been happy with the service and highly recommend Dr. Peryea.

He had his rude assistant perform all kinds of unnecessary tests on my young child when they weren't warranted. And when I asked him what the results were he said he didn't know that there was nothing to compare them with because they are tests only done on adults. He did this to make an extra buck and now I'm fighting the bill with him. Don't go here.
