Dr. Tom Fickes, OD

I am a very busy full-time working parent in a rural area without great service. I called two weeks prior to schedule an appointment. I arrived to my appointment and was told it was canceled due to no confirmation. I did look back at my text history and received a text at 8:19 PM which I missed because it's completely inappropriate to text for confirmation at that time. I have children to put to bed and work in the morning. I did receive a call at 5:00 PM but I was at an appointment and according to their policy, they apparently do not leave a voicemail. Tom Fickes called a couple days following the appointment to tell me that if I do not like their policies, to go somewhere else. Completely inappropriate. He reviewed their policies, including the following: At the time the appointment is made, patients are notified that confirmation will be sent two days prior, however, I was not notified and I did not receive the confirmation in a timely manner according to their own policy.

This is the second time my husband and myself have gone to Fickes Optometry in the Walmart Center in Grants Pass. The Tech. Cameron was friendly, processional, quick and knowledgeable. Optometrist Tom Fickes spend extra time to make sure my prescription was right. He was very detailed, friendly, and I would recommend his organization to you. 1/15/2022

So I got Dr Eva this time and she did the same quality testing on my eyes as Dr. Tom and her have for the past 8 yrs for me. They are both complete and professional. My appointment time was punctual and pleasant. I will recommend Dr. Fickes to all of my friends in the Rouge Valley area.

He was behind by 30 minutes prior to my appt. I offered to reschedule as I needed to leave in about 30 minutes for something else. He said he could get it done. He had me set a timer so he could be reminded when to be done. Many interruptions during my appt. I reminded him I needed to be done by a certain time and he said I could come back to finish. I explained I only had 10 minutes to be able to come back. I asked him a question about Lasik and he said he would never recommend this as the flap never heals it is open to the air and easily displaced for the rest of your life. So untrue. He dilated my eyes, I left and came back. He saw me comeback and took another patient back which was taking longer than the 10 minutes I had so I left. I proceeded to get calls, text messages for the next few hours insisting I pay my $10 copay and that he didn't understand why I didn't complete my appt. I can't see someone else for another year if my 1 visit billed to ins so I paid cash which was dumb!
