Dr. Terry Copeland, PHD

I saw Dr. Copeland some 25 - 30 years ago when I was going through a divorce. I wish I had seen another counselor not because Terry wasn't good but because my soon-to-be ex-wife was a previous patient. Looking back I could see he most probably had a preconceived opinion of me. He did acknowledge early on my wife would be hard to live with, & I was certainly to fault on many points. During the period of counseling I had numerous problems with women, career & sorting childhood trauma. My father also died while I was doing work with him. I got the impression he really didn't find me likeable & would rather be somewhere else, but to be fair my life & problems during that period were probably boring to listen to. If I had it to do over again, I'd pick another counselor so there wasn't the baggage from his seeing my wife.

Terry regarded me with prejudice. He asserted nefarious motivations for ordinary things. He apparently decided I belonged in a pathological Procrustean bed and gave me feedback that that's what I was. He seemed to want me to mistrust and despise myself. It was a bit baffling and unexpected. He suffered from arrogance and was patronizing and rude. I think his PhD fooled him. I went to him with high expectations from all the stellar reviews here and was quite disappointed.

If you're serious about improving your quality of life amidst any and all circumstances, Dr. Terry Copeland is the person to see. No bs, just honest thoughtful sometimes challenging work.

Dr. Terry Copeland was the best counselor I've ever been to! He helped me work through my problems and I'm doing much better. He'll be retiring in the next 2 years or so, so I'd recommend seeing him now while you still can!
