Terri Gerber created a toxic environment for my family and left us all traumatized years later. In my experience working with her as an adolescent with an eating disorder, she frequently shamed me and convinced me that I was "bad" for having eating disorder thoughts. She never asked me why I had an eating disorder or felt compelled to use ED behaviors. She did not care about the root of my problems, only the outward behavior. Being so young at the time, I had no idea that this is not what therapy should be like. I would not recommend her to anyone with an ED or for family therapy.

Everything was fine at first, good in fact. Over time the therapeutic relationship became, in my opinion, toxic. Appropriate boundaries started to go by the wayside and I think she blamed me for not making progress, when in reality the treatment modalities (while valuable) just weren’t right for me anymore. Stopped actually listening to me, gaslit me, and did a couple of things I felt were actually malicious in some bizarre attempt to punish me. Also had unprofessional billing and scheduling practices.
