I had an unpleasant experience at my first appointment with Dr. Blankenship and will be looking elsewhere for a provider. Dr. Blankenship presented as cold, callous, and spoke to me as if I did not know anything. A recent breast cancer survivor, she refused to prescribe me the traditional contraception I have been taken for the past two years because she didn’t believe it was good for me and told me I would need a note from my pervious doctor confirming that I actually took said contraception because she did not believe me. Additionally, she made me feel like the phenomenal doctors I had previous to moving to the Charlotte area had no idea what they were doing and that she ultimately knew best. As a young black woman who is new to the area, I was hoping to find a supportive doctor with a warm bedside manner after what I’ve been through. Instead, I was made to feel incompetent and as if my word could not be trusted. I will not be returning to this practice.

First time I have had annual pelvic exam by a nurse. She was excellent and a very knowledgeable and experienced family nurse practitioner. I was experiencing severe pelvic pain and was worried about post hysterectomy surgery. She performed a thorough examination of the vaginal walls explaining that the vaginal walls were good, and the pain was not due to a failed vaginal prolapse surgery or an infection. Prescribed a vaginal hormone replacement cream to use for 1 year. No rectal exam performed.

I have been a patient of Charlotte OBGYN since 1995. My office visits have always been enjoyable by the welcoming staff. Today was my worst experience ever. I was seen today on 1/29/16 by Terrie Blankenship. The assistance came into the room to get my vitals and advised me to let Nurse Blackenship know my questions or concerns further. I did just that. Nurse Blankenship was short and dry. I did not feel comfortable at all. I feel if you look a certain way Nurse Blankenship will think the worse.
