Dr. Susan Ryan, PHD

I've been seeing Dr. Ryan for over 20 years and she has helped me through many tough times.

I do not recommend Susan Ryan. I saw her a few years ago and am still dealing with long term issues from seeing her. She brushed off my self harm because I’d never needed stitches, asked repeatedly if I was sure being bisexual wasn’t just a step to coming out as gay, told me if I went to college I’d likely have a major depressive relapse (which I did not), and heavily implied that I didn’t actually need to be there and I was being dramatic. She also led me to feel like it wasn’t a big deal that I was suicidal because I didn’t have a plan. I’m sure she’s helpful to some people, but if any of this sounds like it would hurt you if she said/implied/hinted at it to you, please seek help somewhere else. She also once forgot about our appointment and didn’t show up and took a long time to answer my texts asking where she was. She was very friendly and I knew she was trying to help! —But seeing her led to a major self harm relapse for me.

Susan has been remarkable. She's helped me work through some tough issues, is insightful and personable, and I appreciate her approach.
