Great Experience with a Seasoned Professional
I had a great experience with Dr. Leighton. I prefer having a private practice OD rather than a Walmart or LensCrafters doctor or "technician" performing my exam. Dr. Leighton was professional, very friendly, and informative. His staff was friendly and helpful, and I was in and out quickly. Only took a couple of days to get an appointment. Excellent experience, and I will be going back as needed!

I am only giving 1 star because you have to. This was the rudest doctor that I have ever met! He obviously does not like to take pediatric patients and was extremely rude to both myself AND my son. He spoke to my child and myself rudely and it was unprofessional. I am a nurse and I expect better than that. He not only lost us as a patient but also my family who comes to him. I will NEVER see him again. If you do not like to take pediatric patients, DON'T take them!!

Charging $65.00 for my medical records request to be electronically sent to a new Optometrist & have only seen Dr. Leighton 3 times***Going against NC Statute 90-411 of reasonable fees. Left with Bent Designer Glasses that are useless and can not see properly out of them, Dr. Leighton does not stand behind his work*** Dr. Leighton does not deserve even 1 star in my opinion! 1st appointment was fine. On the initial appointment Dr. Leighton said "what if you end up in a nursing home drooling on your self who is going to take care of you"? (I'm middle aged, healthy). I found this odd even after leaving, he stated, "you know their are people your age in nursing homes"! He even was pushing Medi-Share Christian Insurance. Medi-Share gives referral bonus $100.00. This must be how the Dr. makes extra cash. - Unprofessional!!! I left paying over 1/2 my bill of $420. since I would be waiting on my new glasses. I chose one of the higher end designer glasses and planed to pay extra. A couple w

Local to the area, Dr. Leighton is from Matthews, NC.  He attended East Mecklenburg High School and received his Doctorate from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Ma.

He lives in the Matthews area with his wife and 2 adult children.
