She seemed very nice, but wouldn’t recommend if you suspect that you’re in an abusive relationship. My ex and I saw her for couple’s counseling and while he forbade me to bring up certain topics, he went and claimed he was in fact being abused by me. I was instantly labeled while I continued to protect his image. I had no idea at the time of the extent of the abuse I was experiencing and Cohen completely fell for it rather than digging deeper into both of our sides. Instead of looking into the relationship, we ended up discussing my childhood and victim-blaming myself. It held back my healing for an additional two years, rather than chipping at the trauma I was currently experiencing. I don’t want anyone to go through anything like that. If you think your partner can manipulate a therapist, then just get out, but if you’re trapped in your own self-doubts, find someone more objective who will insist on digging deeper.
