Sara Todd, LCSW

I'm not an easy patient. I'm not much on sharing and I think too much. Sara remained patient with me through many unproductive sessions. I feel that if our roles were reversed I would have grown frustrated with a patient that can hardly talk. Sara has continually communicated her willingness to work with me through these painful baby steps. Yesterday we hit a sort of anniversary. I remember talking to her exactly a year before. I remember how lost I was that day. It was the anniversary of my brother's death and it was extremely sad. I have a big family, but I spent the day alone. I went on a long walk through the forest that I knew he would have loved. I was impressed that I could do the walk. It was past my capabilities. I was beyond broken that day and didn't really even have any hope of getting better. A year later I can do that walk daily, I can read again, I have so much more clarity and patience for everything, I have hope. I also have a long way to go. Baby steps of bravery.
