I went in for a physical but left sobbing. I guess what set me off was the scale- my own scale at home is broken so my weight shocked me. Obviously being personally accountable is important. However, being asked “What’s your plan?” Left me pretty speechless as I wasn’t sure. I came in to also to follow up about my depression (in addition to my physical) and maybe get a recommendation for a psychiatrist. Being told to keep the broccoli out of the ranch and no broccoli casserole is just a given. It’s easy to say when you are the thin, pretty one speaking to the overweight, stressed one. A little empathy goes a long way. There was no discussion about any of my issues, I’d say she was in the room for about 3 minutes and zipped out quickly. She was, however, deep in conversation about her great find on SHEIN as I checked out. I really appreciate the Phlebotomist who gave me the longest and most comforting hug before I left.
