Phillip Darby, PA-C

I recently saw Phillip Darby at Providence Immediate Care Westside Olympia due to a cancer scare and needed a referral and lab work to rule out an infection. He was incredibly dismissive, combative, and must have a doctorate in gaslighting. He told me that getting a biopsy would spread the cancer and if that happened, he'd be liable. Which is incredibly inappropriate and negligent. He also rejected any antibiotics to rule out infection because he wasn't sure which antibiotics would be helpful or hurtful. Not one time did he examine the problem area, as I sat there topless in a poorly closed gown. He contradicted anything I said and hurried out of the room. I have never been more angry and upset after a medical visit. I will never return to that facility because of him and he needs to retire or better yet, get fired. He is causing more harm than good. I cannot understand how other reviewers are stating similar experiences with no action upon his position. Absurd.

I encountered Mr Darby at West Olympia Immediate Care. He was in the exam room less than 5 minutes, did not examine me nor ask what my symptoms were. I asked for a specialist referral and he refused saying I should ask my primary care doctor for this. The reason I was there was because my doctor was on vacation and I could not get an appointment with her. Her office staff (at Providence) told me to go to Immediate Care. I asked about severe burning in my throat and Mr. Darby said it was "likely post nasal drip". When I said no it was different, far worse he said nothing. He seemed anxious to go even though the waiting room was empty. The nurse who checked me out (a male) was also curt and sarcastic and his scrubs were dirty smeared with some white matter. Mr Darby's mask did not cover his nose and at times slipped below his mouth. I don't know why he practices medicine as he does not seem knowledgeable or interested in his job. Providence must be desperate.

Even though he freely admitted it was indicated and the preferred medical choice, Mr. Darby said he would not provide a universally-accepted medical treatment for no other reason than it might somehow put him in "a liability situation" (his words). I applaud him for his candor but not his unethical conduct.
