I've suspected that one medication (A) I was on was not helpful to me, and tried talking to her about reducing or replacing it. She repeatedly dismissed my concerns as "not making sense" for that medication, and convinced me I needed a higher dose of my other medication (B). The latter was helpful for me in hindsight at 25mg, but I agreed to end up at 100mg to make up for A, that I didn't even want to take, because I thought she knew better.
Eventually, I put my put down and said the 100mg of B has been overkill, that I felt like a zombie, so she decided to instead raise A, the clear problem medication, to the max dose. When I expressed concern over such a high dose, she laughed and said it's actually the "ideal dose" of A. I spoke to some people both in real life and online who take A, and they all said that's a very high dose. Two days later, I had heart palpitations and dizziness so bad that I had to leave work. Only then did she agree to reduce it.
I ended up tapering off A completely and felt better. I admittedly rushed through tapering off, but I was just so sick of it at the time. I let her know, and she, exasperated, said she'll prescribe whatever med I think would work at our next appointment. I appreciated this at first, but got frustrated when I thought about it. I want someone to give me medical guidance and input while addressing my worries, not to put all the onus on me- especially when it's hard to maintain full awareness of the state of your mental health in bad times. Not someone who has such an all or nothing approach.
I finally bite the bullet and decided to see a new PMHNP (only because Paula Christian cancelled last minute, with a six week wait time, and had incorrect medication in my chart- A, the one I begged to stop taking, but not B). I had medication in mind that I researched and suggested to my bew prescriber. He gave actual input on why they don't sound like good choices to me, and even gave an answer as to why A may have never been a great choice for me, it just might've felt better at first because it's stimulating. He asked me more questions- pointed ones, not Paula Christian's simplistic "would you say you're depressed?" I left with a very low dose of a new med to try, and it's already been helpful.
Dr. Christian may be kind and polite, but she is not a good listener, which is a key skill when deciding what medication people take. Oh, and I get that she has a lot of patients, so she wouldn't remember all the details of my life- but it sucks when a mental health professional repeatedly assumes I have a happy, together, supportive family. No, my mom will not "come around"- my therapist would never think to tell me that. And no, I did not have a holiday cookout with my broken, mostly estranged family who I moved overseas from. I'd bet a lot of your other mentally struggling patients don't, either. Thanks for rubbing that in.

After the first appointment she wrote two bad scripts that the pharmacy couldn't fill for me, then canceled my next appointment 30 minutes before it was due to begin. She then canceled the make up appt the day of 2 weeks later. Good luck actually getting to an appt with her, and better luck actually getting a properly written prescription out of her.

If I could give negative stars I would. Paula Christian should not have a license. She does not care at all about her patients or their mental health and will even go a step further to victim blame and ostracize them. Her office will charge your insurance for hours of appointments when you get 15 minutes at best talking with her. Do not waste your time and energy. Shes an awful doctor.

She told me that my finger was going to fall off, when all I really had was an infection under my finger nail that crept into my finger and got infected. However, Paula Christian sent me to the ER, where I waited 8 hours and was prescribed an antibiotic and sent home. I guess Dr. Paula Christian thought that it was to challenging to prescribe an antibiotic.
