Rude and Condescending
I went to this urgent care facility after separating my shoulder and was seen by Paul Norton. He rushed through the entire visit, dismissed my concerns, and had a condescending attitude. Most of the appointment was him complaining about how busy he was, all while claiming he “never rushes patients.” He also went off on this weird tangent about how ER doctors don’t know what they’re doing but he, as a PA, does. It came across as insecure and unnecessary. He brushed off my concerns about whether surgery might be necessary and was rude and sarcastic to my partner when she was trying to ask a question. The point where he completely lost me was when he said the ER took the wrong x-ray but then claimed he could tell from looking at it that I’d be fine. If it’s the wrong x-ray, how can you confidently say that?I went to New England Orthopedic Surgeons instead, where they actually took new x-rays and treated me like a person. Paul didn’t bother, probably because I was his last patient of t

Professional, gentle, funny and sooo knowledgeable
I walked in with a badly broken shoulder looking for second opinion. Boy, am I glad I did. He took a look at the x-rays I'd brought and ordered new, more accurate ones. My condition was quite serious and he connected me with a surgeon immediately. All the while Paul Norton was calm, gentle, hilarious and grounded. I felt such support and care as he held the seriousness of the situation with dignity. He truly listened to me and took the time needed to complete my visit making me feel as if I was the only patient of the day.

I would recommend Paul Norton
Was seen at NEO in Springfield the day before and told that if I needed to be seen for 3 injury sites that I had 2 choices, go to the ER or, go home and make 2 other separate appointments. Was referred to Cooley Dickinson by my son-in-laws niece who works there. Found Cooley Dickinson staff to be pleasant, wait time short and was satisfied with explanation of my injuries by Paul.

Avoid at all costs
This PA Misdiagnosed and minimized my injury and gave me an inadequate cast that caused unnecessary pain. He also Did not follow up as promised. Scheduled follow up appt was made for two weeks later, again with the PA. Went to NEOS and saw a surgeon the next day, who correctly diagnosed the fracture and scheduled necessary surgery two days later. Will never use this clinic again

Very satisfied. Paul, although very busy, was helpful, answered all my questions and offered helpful advice, as was/did the rest of the staff. MUCH better than the CDH ER.

I’m a nurse with very high standards for any healthcare I receive. Mr. Norton performed a comprehensive evaluation of my injury and function and provided skilled patient teaching. Together we discussed treatment options, and I left feeling very good about the care this clinic gave me. Highly recommended.

I agree that I was very disappointed in the service that Paul and the walk-in clinic provided. I felt dismissed and condescended when I was only trying to receive care for my massively swollen and painful foot. Instead of helpful recommendations, I was told to "use an orthotic" which was painful, ridiculous and a waste of money. I simply wanted good quality care and instead I was out time and money without a true or thoughtful diagnosis. When I called to try and get an earlier follow-up I was equally dismissed and they said "Paul reviewed the X-ray and said you could wait." When I calmly explained that I would like a visit with a Dr. sooner than the four week out visit they provided, I was told: "If it's so bad go to the ER." That is completely ridiculous not to mention a waste of time and resources. I decided to seek out a 2nd opinion and had no trouble with a walk-in orthopedic center in Springfield. They were excellent, Cooley was not.

Paul seems like a nice enough guy but the appointment was really rushed and I did not get to ask questions that I thought were important. I went from a cast to a splint which seems pretty simple, but I was never given any direction on how tight it should be or where exactly it should be placed. When I did try to ask questions I felt like I was being interrupted and spoken down to. I did not feel like I was being listened to. Unfortunately due to not being given specific instructions I can feel that the bone is not healing properly and now I will be going to an actual specialist. Probably where I should've gone in the first place but I was told to go here.

Paul Norton is by far the best orthopedic PA in town! He fully explains what is going on and goes in detail about my treatment plan. He answered all my questions and concerns. Paul is highly recommended in the orthopedic injury walk in clinic.

Paul is a gatekeeper for Hampshire Orthopedics. Since it is a walk-in clinic, he is probably the first (maybe only) one you will see. Unless you need surgery, he will probably just send you away for weeks. If you have injured more than one body part and it is not an orthopedic problem--forget it. They take unnecessary x-rays which will not be read, but "archived" at Cooley D. If he sends you to physical therapy upstairs, it will only be for the broken part. Policies for them, not you.

care philosophy

Treating the patient as the captain of the ship. I am their adviser but ultimately they are in charge. Their time is just as valuable as mine and keeping them waiting is not accpetable and should be acknowledged when it does happen.
