Pam Schweitzer is very forceful and closed-minded about prescribing traditional antidepressants after talking to you for ten minutes and is not well informed about more recently released drugs or therapies. She will shame you if you disagree. She is not a psychiatrist or a doctor; she is a nurse practitioner, and appointments are very short. If you can possibly afford it see a psychiatrist or psychologist who is up to date on current science about mood disorders and their treatment.

First I should note that the customer support staff at the U-M Dept. of Psychiatry are dreadful. For people who are paid to deal with the mentally ill, the front desk and call center staff are unbelievably unfriendly and impatient. Also, in my three years as a patient, I don't think I've ever had an easy time scheduling an appointment. On to the doctors, I've seen two and they were friendly but incompetent and unhelpful. I'm in much worse shape than I was when I first sought help.
