Negligent
Telehealth
Consistently late to appointments, diagnoses severe mental health conditions within a single session, knowingly mixes medications that shouldn’t be taken together, blatantly calls herself a doctor - she is not. Her staff is rude, as she is.

Inconsiderate
Telehealth
Always late to appointments, I understand being 5-15 minutes late, but when your always 30-50 minutes late to an appointment something needs to be addressed. It never made much sense to me considering how rushed my appointments were so not sure how other patients were going over their time limit when she wants you out of there as fast as possible. I could get over her being so late if she was a good doctor but she wasn't. I went there for help with my anxiety and depression and when starting a new medication it worsened my anxiety to the point I had a panic attack (something I rarely ever experience). Upon sharing this information with her she told me that their was no way the med caused it and told me that I was too young to be so anxious? Like that's why I'm here?? To get better?? Anyways I stopped taking that med and low and behold the panic attacks stopped.

This is an inconsistent and negligent provider.
Telehealth
This person is incredibly inconsiderate, changes meds at the drop of a hat and no recourse, misses and cancels appointments, schedules their own random ones, and truly shows no concern for patients. This is the kind of doctors whose negligence will catch up with them, and I would advise you stay away so that you are not the one caught up as a result of their inability to provide consistent, compassionate, safe and thoughtful care.

Concerning practice
Telehealth
Frequently late and canceling appointments. I was left feeling like a medication guinea pig, and ignored when in crisis from all these medication changes.

Avoid - she is fake and harmful
Telehealth
Her ego is out of control and she is just a bad provider - diagnosed people on one intake visit and can’t explain why or even inform patients what new diagnosis is. Always always 30 plus minutes late and distracted the entire appt by her computer screen. Obsessed with her own education and thinks she’s smarter than everyone - no humility or genuine compassion for her patients. Not a good provider by any means she’s actually dangerous the way she’s treating people.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Carter’s for 2 years. She is very easy to talk to. When I first started seeing Dr. Carter, I was very nervous. I’ve seen so many people in the past 27 years for my depression where the majority of them did not help me. Some actually made me feel more depressed. So I was worried I would have another Dr that didn’t listen or help me with what was going on in my life. But Dr Carter was wonderful. I’ve never had someone like her who has taken the time to really find out about me and my issues, my concerns, and my goals. And, she helps to keep me on my path to meet my goals. I also love that she does virtual visits. Sometimes due to health issues I’ unable to drive. And I can’t get anyone to watch the kids as well someone to drive me. So virtual visits are extremely helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Carter. She is amazing!

Five years of care under this provider
As a patient of DR Carter’s for almost five years now. She’s helped me tremendously. Highly intelligent, attentive, generous with her time (maybe to a fault), caring, humble, & goes way beyond helping her patient(s), upfront, & honest. I have referred many people to her, and they have all said the same. Literally she saved my life. Not only have I learned so much, but for a provider that functions as both therapist/psychiatrist she does it all! Is it easy to have a provider who is in high demand? Well, there are pros & cons to having someone who is great at what they do. I would not call it easy, working on your mental health is never easy. Would I blame her for that? Absolutely not. Is DR Carter worth it Absolutely YES! Speculating, she has too many clients, or double booked is simply ridiculous. Yes she is booked, maybe due to clients like me who make sure they stay on top of their own appointments. Stop blaming others for giving up on yourself.

Listen to the negative reviews
Dr. Carter presents as a well meaning, attentive and caring provider, I initially enjoyed our sessions. However, she regularly has too many clients which leads her to cancel appointments because of overbooking or just ghosting you which is not helpful for treatment. At my last appointment, she never even showed up. When I emailed them because they tried to charge my insurance for the visit, the receptionist said she forgot about the appointment. When I tried to follow up for another appointment, they never responded. I emailed them and called several times because I was also on medication under her care and was due for a refill and they never reached back out. I had to go without my medication and therapy until I could find a new provider. Dr. Carter you need to practice within your capacity. If teaching and being a provider is too much, on behalf of your patients please choose one because it is hurtful and selfish to continue to do both.

I saw Olivia for 12 sessions between 08/19 and 3/20 for therapy and medication management. Keep in mind that I was a mental health counseling student. While she is highly intelligent, she operated with too much ego and overconfidence. She did not like being disagreed with and threatened to terminate our sessions because she said something insensitive that made me cry and express my frustration. She stated that she has treated psychiatrists with PTSD and so she was unwilling to adjust her implementation of treatment when it wasn’t working for me. The last time I saw her, I expressed not doing well mentally, was obviously upset, and she didn’t ask “the question” (if I was suicidal) because our session went over time. She told me I was fine. When COVID was officially declared a national emergency in March 2020, I never heard from her or the office again even though I was taking medication. I would not recommend unless she learned to control her ego.

Great doctor-very thorough
Very caring and in depth analysis. I have never had a psychiatrist who did so many health tests and psychological analysis prior to initial visit. Really listens to my issues and provides psychological counseling. Most prescribers just fill your prescriptions as fast as possible and don’t want to spend more than 15 minutes talking to you after your first appointment

Does not care
She left my sister in the hospital without returning any phone calls so could be discharged. She didn't want to take the time out of her day to make the call because it wasn't billable hours I would not recommend this NP.

In struggling with my mental health for so many years it wasn’t until meeting Dr. Carter that I was able to understand that there are some things you can’t simply medicate! She understood the type of bipolar disorder I had and offered me the knowledge needed to be successful! My experience is she provides rigorous diagnostic evaluations! But It was so worth it. As I was able to understand why some medications I was on were not helping me whatsoever! Instead of being on 6 different medications. I’m currently on 2 that have stabilized me. In addition, she doesn’t just prescribe but she is also a therapist. She collaborated with my therapist to offer some insight to assist me further in my treatment plan. They worked as a team and for the first time since I can remember I can say I’ve reached the longest remission from my Major Mental Health issues.

Dr. Carter seemed to be very thorough, but then tried to give me a personality disorder diagnosis after only having spent a total of an hour and a half with me and having me do several questionnaires. She questioned what I've done in therapy with my other provider. She did provide me with valuable resources, and I have no doubt that others had many positive experiences with her, however in seeking a prescriber, I was very disappointed. I would be cautious of any provider who diagnoses a major disorder without spending more time with their patient.

I always look forward to my appointments with Dr.Carter. Whether the appointment is in person or via tele-health, the service is always exceptional. It’s hard to find a provider that you can be honest with (viceversa) without feeling like you’re being judged or feeling uncomfortable. I feel very lucky that I was able to find one. Dr. Carter challenges me and helps me understand things form different perspectives. Her help has been a blessing!
