My husband is having serious liver problems. When I mentioned to Mallory that my husband's nurse practitioner (the only person out of the many, many doctors my husband has seen who has been of help) thinks he possibly has encephalopathy, Mallory said, "He doesn't have liver failure." A brief glimpse at Taber's Medical Dictionary said that the symptoms of encephalopathy range from NO SYMPTOMS to COMA. So, duh, one can have encephalopathy and not have liver failure. I would not recommend this practitioner to anyone.
