Nirupama Somasundaram, NP

Np. Nirupama Somasundaram is a wonderful care taker when it comes to her patients. She's understanding and listens to your concerns fully with the intent to fix them directly and wastes no time. When assessing the situation, she insists to hear all information from start to finish so she can have a proper analysis and discover the best way to help you. I love her persistence and she never hesitates to tell me what I have to hear, even If it's something I wouldn't want to hear. She wants what's best for her patients.

I saw nirupama as a GYN at NYU. I saw her because of concerns with my cycle that are associated with estrogen dominance. I asked her to send me for bloodwork. She wrote me a script for TSH (which is completely irrelevant & makes no sense to test for under my circumstances) & she did not include any reproductive hormones in the bloodwork. When I asked for more testing, she became defensive & refused to send me for bloodwork for basic hormones like estrogen & testosterone. She said those tests aren't necessary (reminder all my cycle symptoms point to estrogen dominance) & she said she doesn't know how to read those results. A practitioner who's working in a GYN office who doesn't know how to read basic reproductive hormones?? She should be ashamed of herself. If you just need a pap & absolutely no further GYN care, maybe she would be fine to see. However, I would see a male GYN before seeing her again & that speaks volumes.

Was able to make an appointment the same day through the One Medical app. Was not friendly nor inviting. Did not wait to walk me back to the office so I did not know where I was going, did not greet me nor take ample time to discuss my medical history. It was an in and out visit for her. I did not even know the appointment was over until someone asked me to pay. She said nothing along the line of finishing up. Very uncomfortable visit and would not recommend.
