Nicholas is one of a kind. I’ve been to many therapists but no one that has the amount of compassion and concern for his clients. I was in a dark place and he helped me through it. I have read what others wrote and it seems they were upset because he didn’t tell them what they wanted to hear. If you can choose anyone , I say go with him. I don’t trust therapists but I needed someone to help me and he did just that. I am more engaged with my children, developed a better connection with my ex and improved my skills at work. Thank you, Nicholas for all of your hard work.

Nope
I was court ordered to have couples therapy with my ex. Nicholas favored my ex despite the ex playing on his cell phone and refusing to engage in therapy. It was very one sided therapy because I was the only one interacting. I refused to continue therapy with both the ex and the therapist because we were not getting anywhere. It was a waste of time and money.

For our situation he was very positive. He bridged many gaps between me and my ex and I appreciated the directness on suggestions/acceptances aimed at both me and my ex. I've had a productive outcome and I believe my ex has as well. I see some of these other reviews and often it is a matter of matching the dynamic of an ex-couple to the right therapist... different ppl click w/different therapists. Regardless, he was good for us and our kids.

Choosing a therapist is not an easy process. A license or certification is not a measure of a good therapist. Furthermore, these types of reviews usually attract negativity. unfortunately however, the other reviews written here mirror my experience. Nicholas Bracken attempted to provide co-parenting counsel to me & my ex-spouse. He immediately crossed boundaries by attempting to negotiate visitation terms in a hot legal custody battle which was of course completely inappropriate. I fortunately had good representation and other therapists who insisted that Mr. Bracken’s participation did more damage than good and sadly a phych evaluation did not bode well for my ex. If Mr. Bracken had had the insight to have seen the situation with more clarity he might have helped my ex to have gained the skills to form a better relationship with his children. Divorce is a sad thing and kids shouldn’t suffer those consequences made worse by someone like Nicholas Bracken. Interview several therapists.

Negative stars if possible...I too had a very similar experience with Mr. Bracken. and his parent aid Pamela Troutwine. He refused to follow the court ordered schedule, then refused visits at various times in general. I had a “phased in” parenting plan, and my only assumption is that his motives were to keep the $$$ rolling in for supervised visits?! Thankfully the court heard my complaint and granted me enforcement. Now I need to hire another attorney reparations.

Horrendous experience with co-parenting therapy. Nicholas repeatedly made suggestions that made interactions worse. He repeatedly asked me to accept unacceptable behaviors while not confronting the unacceptable behaviors of my ex. When challenged, he threatened to fire me as a patient. I would never suggest him as a therapist to anyone.
