i thought at the time we had a good therapist-client relationship. it took me years to realize that i was dismissed, minimized, and sidelined. I would love for therapists and other professionals to admit when they're in over their head. she went out of her way to tell me that trauma was the cause of my concentration issues, and i believe this was racially coded. i think often about the months i spent in EMDR sessions, after being told I couldn't possibly struggle with executive dysfunction. If you're reading this and feel that you know your brain best, trust that. I wish I had known that I could've had affirmation of what ADHD was years ago. I shouldn't have had to run to the internet to seek community and self-diagnose, this diagnosis was later affirmed by a psychologist, but what really mattered is that i had to fight for myself. folks shouldn't have to do that.

I’ve made two appointments and I’ve still never spoken to her. First, she called 90 minutes after our appointment, then sent an email saying she’d noted the wrong time. I let it slide and rescheduled, but it’s currently 45 minutes after our second appointment and she still hasn’t contacted me
