Started Out Well, Ended Poorly
I saw Naima for the entirety of my pregnancy. During my 3rd trimester I started experiencing high blood pressure. Instead of checking my urine for protein that would show whether I had preeclampsia, I was told to just monitor my blood pressure at home. I did this for weeks but every appointment my blood pressure was super high. I was 4 days past my due date when my blood pressure was so high that I got sent to the OB emergency room. I had to be induced and turns out I did have preeclampsia. People with preeclampsia are typically induced at like 38 week. I had to be induced at 40w5d. I had a really traumatic birth and almost lost my baby due to this. Never deliver at the university of Utah hospital. Also after I delivered I was forced to get the MMR vaccine and she made me take a bunch of shots “for my preeclampsia” as I was recovering postpartum. I had bruises all over my stomach from them. I don’t recommend her at all.

Naima delivered my baby at the University of Utah hospital in Salt Lake City Utah. I really enjoyed her during labor, she has a soft, comforting touch and helped me labor for hours with no pain medication. However, once my baby was born my well-reviewed and communicated birth plan was ignored and his cord was clamped almost immediately. This was also against hospital policy which is to delay for 60 seconds. We know the exact timing because my doula was snapping photos and we have photos of the clam. The team claimed it was because my baby hadn’t taken his first breath and they wanted to shock his system into doing so. But I know that is not the first tactic that can be leveraged and believe all he needed was a bit more time. I felt violated and it honestly took me weeks to get over. Overall I felt she was a caring midwife but I wish she would have asked my consent to clamp early and given me the chance to decline until at least one minute.
