Monica is a very direct and honest therapist. She does not sugarcoat for people to feel better. She Has been direct with me and I have really appreciated it. She’s told me when I’m wrong and help me figure out how to better improve and certain areas. I really appreciate her honesty and straightforwardness.

Don’t let the naysayer reviews deter you. If you’re genuinely invested in putting in the hard work for real change & have thick skin to hear the truth, Monica is right up your alley. She is a breath of fresh air. Monica is incredibly observant & excels at seeing even the most charming people for who they are at their core. I admire how she doesn’t sugar coat difficult feedback as to not waste time, even when it’s uncomfortable. She genuinely cares through tough love & is an advocate who wants to be make a positive difference. Not only does she deliver digestible information efficiently, but provides helpful tools & homework too. Thanks to only a few couples sessions with her, I was able to regain some much needed confidence, reduce anxiety, fee validated, & finally see things clearly enough to distance myself from an abusive relationship. I can’t thank her enough.

Avoid her.
She’s incapable of separating her own belief system from her clients. She projects her prejudices onto others relationships and taints the help she is being paid to give. Toxic therapist. Find one that accepts you and your relationship and roots for you and your partner.

Monica is an amazing therapist. I have been to a few others who just didn't know their stuff or just stared at me. She made me feel comfortable and really helpful to wife and me.

This was one of the worst experiences of my life. I sought help from her but instead I was belittled, talked down to, and frankly bullied. I regret not standing up for myself. No human has the right to talk to another the way Monica did to me.

Monica is an amazing combination of tough love and empathy! My husband and I came to her for help “re-building” our relationship while dealing with my husband’s alcohol addiction. She helped provide the tools we needed to keep each other in check, but also show love and forgiveness when needed. I’ve recommended her to many people in the last 5 years and know of at least 3 who have gone and had positive experiences as well. My husband passed away last year and I decided to see her again for grie

My experience with Monica Gardner as a therapist was bad. Since my wife is hispanic and didn't speak English very well, I had to translate everything that was said back and forth. At that point, and way before I had the chance to express my own thoughts, Monica concluded that I had been gas-lighting my wife :( She told us that she needed a few sessions alone with my wife and I never had one opportunity to be part of the therapy. Out marriage never made one improvement. My wife divorced me later.

Recommended by a friend who says she is in a much better place thanks to Monica's help. Monica is honest and realistic. I will always struggle but she is teaching me what to do when things seem way too hard to handle.

Monica is the type of therapist that will not "drag" out your therapy for the benefit of her pocketbook. She believes in accountability and I think that is very valuable in therapy. She also gets to the point without having to get a long history. By way of information I don't have a mental illness. If I had insurance coverage I would see her more often, but just a few visits were very helpful.

Monica is a wonderful counselor. Over the last 15 years I have seen about 4 different counselors and what I love about Monica is that she listens. She empathizes... But she doesn't always agree with what you are saying. This is the key to a good counselor. It is impossible to improve who we are if we are told how great we are and how everything we do is right and everyone else is wrong. And most importantly, she gives you tools to improve.
