I personally wouldn't recommend picking him as a therapist. Barely let me speak during my sessions. Went on tangents about needing to fill out kindergarten level paperwork reflecting on my emotions. I'm paying you to give me advice and discuss my traumas, not sit and listen to a tangent about a kid level paper. Never shared the material on my assigned paper either, he just rambled and assigned more papers. Got upset when I laughed discussing a brief trauma, this is my coping mechanism. Why are you upset regarding how I cope? Seriously, what a joke. I should be paid to listen to him at this point since his entire session consisted of him rambling utter nonsense.

I attended couples counseling with Mitchell for about 12 months, and throughout the process he not only avoided and ignored standard best practices, but actively encouraged an abusive relationship.Mitchell pushed us away from normal therapy techniques and standards, such as by requiring us to not read 'seven principles of making marriage work'.Michell also encouraged toxic gender norms, even paradoxically - 'the man must work and support the woman', immediately followed by 'the man must take a back seat in the relationship, as they're not capable of understanding the challenges a woman goes through'.
