My daughter recently went to UC for chest pain. He refused to listen to her saying she was "way to young for heart issues", no exam, no questions asked, no family history, absolutely nothing was done. She asked him if she should go to the ER if it persists. His reply was "dont worry, you wont have to go" and walked out of the room. While I hope he is correct, it absolutely infuriates me when so called medical professionals blow patients off simply due to their age. Heart issues run in our family, for this reason alone he should have taken her seriously and at the very least listened to her. What if she was having a serious heart event? He didnt know because he did absolutely nothing to rule it out! Shes a young college student living far from home and went where she thought they would help her. She should have gone directly to the ER for chest pain and know that now, but Mike Nicholas, NP needs to do better. People come to you for help. Whether it's a simple sinus infection or a serious heart issue, it doesnt matter. If it is out of your range of medical knowledge you are supposed to guide them on where/how to get help, not blow them off and tell them they are fine and to go home.
