Nurse Desantis seems keen to minimize time with patients, and maximize referrals. Self described as a 'traffic cop, telling people 'you go here, you go there',' his stated role in the healthcare system is not to provide care of any kind but rather to direct you to an actual care provider capable or willing to see you as a patient. Even in this capacity serious mistakes are made, such as scheduling for an MRI without prescribing PT as per insurance guidelines. This proceeded to be scheduled as a non-insured procedure, and would have cost an astronomical sum if not for my own follow-up with the insurance provider. As a result, care for serious back pain was postponed weeks. Rude and dismissive of patient concerns, Desantis denied a request for corroborating documentation of care based entirely on his misunderstanding of a previous care provider's notes. When I was made aware and attempted to clarify the mistake in the notes by adding context, Desantis dug in his heels and became upset.

Always helpful and willing to spend time learning about and helping with a person's problem. I would like to know how to continue as a patient now that he has left Community Health Net.

Once suggested that I take an over the counter pain reliever that would conflict with another medication I’m required to take for the rest of my life. It’s literally on a list of “Do not take if you’re taking…” Over a year later prescribed me a medication that ended up making me very sick. Thought it was just a personal bad reaction-upon further research discovered that this medicine mixed with the same medication I must take for the rest of my life, is listed on drugs.com as causing MAJOR interaction and that the RISKS outweigh the benefits. I will never see this person again. First experience not great, but last experience, really bad, not to mention, scary.

Mr. DeSantis was very personable and professional. He was very attentive to my physical issues and made recommendations to better understand my current physical status. I strongly recommend him. I would definitely see him again for any future follow-ups and treatment.
