Dr. Michael Defeo, DPT

After 2 knee replacements in 2024, I went to Dr. DeFeo for PT at Elite Performance in Garden City. He and his staff were excellent and gave me the best possible care. I left each session feeling better, with less pain than I had prior to the session. I highly recommend Dr. DeFeo.

I am so appreciative of being referred to Elite Physical Therapy by a neighbor who experienced excellent care and outcomes from the Elite team. Mike DeFeo and team are interested in your getting better and in my case achieving full range of motion. I am still a patient and feel confident that my outcome will be positive. It is a very positive atmosphere.

I met Dr. DeFeo today for the first time. I had a total knee replacement. He knew exactly what to do. I was totally impressed with his expertise and knowledge.I had less pain after his manipulation than I had before he began. He is clearly an expert in his field. I would highly recommend Dr. Defeo.

Elite Performance is a great place, they are caring, friendly and knowledgeable, the staff is great, they is never a long wait they talk to you and get to know you, they put together a program for your needs and work with you. Great job, I’ve been going there for a couple years for different problems and I always go back to them. I just want to thank them for helping me and getting me through difficult situations.

Michael and his team are exceptional. His staff are very friendly, exceedingly competent and attentive. It is the opposite of PT factories where you are just a foreign body to be processed in and out. A very positive experience.

I was hurt and struggling to get better after an accident, and had been to two different PT places to no avail. Finally after a referral from a friend, I went to Elite Performance. Truth be told, I wasn’t optimistic. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised as to the level of care that Dr Defeo and his staff gave me, and how patient they were. They took the time to explain in detail what they believed to be the underlying issue and it’s actually working! Wish I would have gone here first!

This is a great office to receive physical therapy. Dr. Defeo oversees all the therapy being provided and is very hands on in directing his staff, including the other doctors. He is constantly teaching the younger therapists who appear to appreciate the oversight. Unlike the large chain therapy mills, this shop is being run by an owner /manager who knows everyone who walks through the door, why they are there and where they are in the course of their therapy. Dr. Defeo was great.

Dr Defeo is very professional and take the time to answer any questions that I have, whether it be in person or over the phone. Staff is great and welcoming. Best part about it is I feel a big difference each time I visit the office and go through the therapy that they provide. A+!

Upon scheduling my first appointment, I asked if my health insurance will cover the cost. The receptionist said I am responsible for the co-pay only. Now, 4 months later, am receiving bills for charges that exceed GHI coverage. Evidently, Elite Performance can charge whatever they want, over the insurance payment. Beware of Elite Performance!

Very professional--office procedures, staff, equipment, front desk, etc. Have never had any problems securing an appointment or cancelling an appointment due to an emergency or schedule change. My time is respected and I am seen quickly. Dr. Defeo is always available to answer any questions and to oversee my program and progress. Highly recommend this office. I have been to several p/t's before and am very impressed with the professionalism I have encountered in this office.

In response to the last post, I too, was sore after my first couple of treatments. After discussing it with Mike, he was very thorough in explaining why and was able to adjust my treatments. I have nothing but good things to say about the therapists and the office, and I would highly recommend this office to anyone who needs physical therapy.

Excellent therapist and really helped fix my back to avoid surgery. Very knowledgable and the office was nice. Always enjoyed going there because it was so much fun
