'Meat and Potatoes' therapist
My spouse and I saw Cantor for couples therapy. He was friendly and personable, and seemed confident about helping us with our challenges. In some ways, he was helpful, mostly with day to day issues that a lot of couples struggle with. He wasn't as helpful with issues that weren't typical and required outside-of-the-box solutions. I gave him 2 stars instead of 3 for the following reasons. 1) I felt like he interrupted a lot. When asked to stop, he would be then eventually start up again. 2) He liked to draw conclusions about intentions based on his past experience as a therapist rather than asking questions so we could explain our thinking. 3) During one of our last sessions, my spouse mentioned telling me the truth about a wrong he'd committed, and Cantor flat out asked why he'd been honest with me. My mind was blown that he was suggesting my spouse should have withheld the truth, and that he did so right in front of me.
