She worked with my son for roughly 9 months and was often very condescending. She also did not consider culturally appropriate lessons. She worked in a very textbook manner and seemed to believe that ‘one-size-fits-all’, which is clearly not the case when working with young children in speech therapy. She also repeated the same lessons over and over. I felt my son got way more from working with his teachers and classmates at daycare, as well as me and the rest of our family. The final straw was that she was very rude to me via text when I needed to cancel an appointment, and she removed my son from her caseload without any forewarning. The service coordinator had to reach out to let me know she was upset about the cancellation and thus would no longer work with my son. She needs more experience working with kids from different backgrounds. Hopefully, whoever reads this can read between the lines. I don’t think the “cancellation” was her issue.
