Thorough exam, listens to patient, follow-up

Marlyn makes me feel safe and understand. I trust no one else with my health care.

I thought it was how Optum handled doctor visits, but every time I went there, I would spend more time with the Nurse Assitant. It got to be ridiculous the amount of time I would spend sitting in the exam room by myself. What confirmed my feelings was at a lady's lunch, a new to the area asked out loud if anyone had experienced a medical visit where the PCP/NP spent more time out of the exam room than with you. I asked< "Was her name Marlyn Newby?" and she said yes. I had been looking for a new doctor, but that incident confirmed that I needed a new doctor.

Started seeing M. Newby years ago. She seemed to listen to my concerns and take the right steps to find out what was wrong. Past few times I’ve seen her, she does not accurately recall what we discussed in previous visits. She told me my cholesterol was high…not dangerously high but just enough to adjust my diet and return in a few weeks. Went back for follow-up (per HER orders, of course) and she looked at me as if I was crazy, then stated my cholesterol was fine. Also, I provided her a diagnostic test (separate medical concern) I had from another provider in the past and she or her staff lost the document BOTH times. Very dissatisfied with the incompetence and complete lack of regard for patients’ private health information that should have been secured in a file.

Marlyn listens thoroughly and makes every effort to follow up on and figure out complex health issues. I have referred some of my patients to her as well as seeing her myself.

This woman should NOT be allowed to treat patients! She is rude, incompetent, and full of herself. She is only interested in tests. Every single one she ordered came back with negative several and several of the people giving me the tests actually laughed when told what she had told me. She even insisted that I start a medicine that she said I would have to take for the rest of my life and I was immediately pulled of it when the results came back. I think she should be terminated before she really hurts someone.

I have recommended her to many women friends. They all are her patients now. She can never retire......
