Dr. Ward has been my psychologist for over one year. Her compassion, understanding, and reliability have seen me through a very difficult time. She is accessible and intelligent and ready to work with senior patients on Medicare. She also makes house calls, if desired. I consider her an important aspect of my continuing mental health. I can tell her anything, as she does not judge or make me uncomfortable. And with Covid still a threat, we have sessions via a video app on my phone. I am grateful for her.

Zero stars if I could. She sits there and acts like you are wasting her time. I'd never seen a counselor so rude, one sided, and uncaring. She doesn't truly listen and as a client I felt she wasn't getting to the heart of the issue. Session after session it was like this and she demands big money After seeing the other reviews on here it really doesn't surprise me. I hope somebody reports her to the state board and lawyers up. What an embarrassment to N michigan and the mental health industry.

I beg you to consult elsewhere for professional/competent therapy. She didn't provide a correct diagnosis and wasn't willing to further investigate my complex trauma disorder (finally diagnosed by my next therapist). She even called me a verbally abusive name and was inappropriately defensive and judgmental during my sessions –– I actually ended up being treated for iatrogenic PTSD by the Cleveland Clinic. After she called me a horrible name, I was traumatized/deeply struggling and contacted her –– she refused to apologize or try to help and said I would have make an appointment and pay her if we wanted to go over it. When I saw her, she said "I am sorry YOU feel that way" and refused to take responsibility. She strings patients along in her practice even if treatment isn't working. Finally, two years after termination she left me a bizarre voicemail out of the blue accusing me of trying to contact her children. Please go elsewhere, she has too many issues of her own to be practicing

I consulted with Marcia Ward several years ago when she was practicing in OH. I don't recommend her for consultation due to her incompetence, unprofessionalism, and her retaining clientele even when the presenting issues are beyond her scope of practice. She doesn't have the necessary training to treat trauma, personality disorders, or other complex cases. She had issues of maternal affections towards me and expressed fantasies of wanting to hold me and call me "honey." On the flip side, she also would inappropriately get angry or defensive when I expressed my preferences for treatment. One session, she even became verbally abusive and called me a "bitch" because I asked she could stop self-grooming when I was speaking. Additionally, I suffer from abandonment issues and she insensitively informed me about her move to MI only a few weeks in advance. I left very retraumatized and didn't get proper diagnosis until my next therapist. She is in this business purely for the money.

Was not helpful what so ever. Before we even started she had chosen a side that she agreed with and her professionalism did not stand out. Reaching out to her is pointless because she doesn’t truly care and was only going to listen on the clock. When someone is so emotionally damaged, one would think she would dig deeper into what has caused these outcry’s but instead the charmer worked on her just like everyone else around me. She made no effort to see where the damage came from and allowed someone to speak for me and talk over me instead of ever allowing me to tell my side of the emotionally abused truth. At the end of the day and many sessions later, there were no results, no differences made and a big hefty bill was received in the mail. There was no comfort from someone you pay so much to listen to you.

Marcia Ward is in Petoskey MI now. Nothing on her website tells the truth of who she really is. Avoid, avoid! She acts all nice/understanding at first glance but don't fall for it. She cusses and acts rude. She has a "my way or the highway" kind of attitude and won't listen to the direction you want your therapy to take. She's VERY full of herself. I left feeling worse about my problem than when I came in. I agree with the previous reviewer, glad people are brave to tell the truth. There are plenty more therapists to choose from other than Marcia Ward.

I wouldn't recommend this therapist to anybody. She's aloof and unprofessional. Is never with you on the same page, very spaced out. A waste of time and money.
