Misdiagnosed skin cancer
She was my PC, but had experience in dermatology, so I saw her about a painful cyst on my shin. She said it was not skin cancer. I was prescribed antibiotics and after 10 days I received a steroid shot. I was told to wait a month and then to seek a surgical dermatologist to have it removed. When I saw another PA in another dermatology practice I was told the cyst was not benign, but cancer. A biopsy was done and skin cancer was confirmed. I received 3 bills for a total of $75 because she was considered a specialist. She not only misdiagnosed my cyst, she cost me time, money, including a lot of pain. She recently will be employed as a Dermatologist PA; she is leaving the Primary Care group where I was treated.
