Machelle Strand, FNP

NP Strand has always helped me advocate for myself. I had an issue with insurance for awhile and wasn’t able to see here, now that I’m back she’s getting to the bottom of my health issues. She’s always been caring and compassionate to me.

To preface this I am a physician. I made an appointment for a medication refill that requires no labwork aside from an in office test I completed upon arrival. The nursing student saw me first and I told her what I wanted to discuss. Machelle didn’t come in or sit down, she stood in the door way of the exam room, refused to talk with me about my concerns and then told me to “get up” and walked me out of the clinic. She spoke rudely to me in an aggressive tone of voice and wasn’t interested in listening to my concerns. She was not accommodating, kind, empathetic and clearly lacks medical knowledge. PLEASE see someone else.

I was assigned a nurse practitioner, Machelle Strand, as my primary care provider. I'm diabetic, and she prescribed medications without checking to see if my insurance would cover them. OK - maybe I'm not being reasonable on that front, but it's still frustrating. Then I asked her about some new symptoms I was experiencing and her response was "if you're worried, go to the emergency room." She eventually told me that my medical condition was more than she could handle and told me to go somewhere else. Her level of apathy is shocking. Stay away from Nurse Strand!

This NP did not order labs during a follow-up visit a month later when my bloodwork showed a high A1C, extreme dehydration, high cholesterol, high potassium level, and other areas of concern. When I sent a message on my chart letting her know I saw my cardiologist who wondered why she didn't order labs with such concerning results, that I had afib, and wanted to come in for lab work. She refused. Said she would call my cardiologist. I did bring my A1C down with diet and medication prescribed. However, she still should have ordered labs to compare. I will be reporting her to the medical board and to my insurance. Highly recommend you look elsewhere for a PCP.

I see a couple a bad reviews and totally disagree with the comments. Michelle and Julia are so wonder and are on the top of their game. Michelle (Shelly) is a great listener and tends to your health needs. She does what she can and refers you to a specialist if needed. Julia her assistant takes care of you the same way. If I need meds, she has them called in even before I leave the office. I can't enough about this team. Love you guys. Your friend from Cleveland.

If I could rate a zero I would Very unprofessional thought it was a bad day but on more than one visit I don’t recommend AT ALL

Started out first visit fine. It went downhill from there. Lacked good communication, got too overwhelmed with issues that came up, and had no follow through thereafter. Would not recommend??

Covered everything on my list. She made the referrals I need and my cholesterol is way down. Office felt safe. She’s wonderful. I’m in great shape!

Machelle Strand has been my primary physician over the last few years. First day I met with her I felt listened to, not rushed and compassion for my needs. I have recommended her to many people who were in need of a great primary physician and they ended up thanking me for the recommendation.
