Therapists are required to discharge with referrals, a proper exit interview, making sure the client is not in crisis or danger. It is also an ethical and professional responsibility to provide bridge support until connected to another therapist. I have taken graduate level courses on ethics for counselors- I know she is not acting in line with those. However other naive clients may not be the wiser.
