It seemed like he had an idea of me due to my diagnosis at the time and ran with it, without getting to know me as a person. He was insistent I talk about traumatic things when I didn't know him well, and even when I said stop or got teary or upset he'd still push me. He was very confrontational, which can be necessary, but it felt like he was confronting me because of his own frustrations, rather than for my benefit. The sessions were not directed. I told him things that I wanted to work on, and he didn't agree and so we didn't work on those things. He gave a lot of really contradictory advice. I felt like I had to say whatever he wanted to hear to avoid an argument or invalidation. He was kind of mean honestly. I felt like we would argue a lot, rather than do therapy. I wish I could go back in time and tell myself you don't have to put up with this. If you have an experience like this where you are being chronically misunderstood, find another therapist it's not healthy.
