This was the worst experience I had ever had with a professional nurse. I have worked in health care for over 10 yrs. I work in the foster care field and was calling to receive some information for a patient to get a refill script on medication. It is important to service the patient and work together so our kids can receive the help they need through medication. LaVeta was short, cut me off, did not want to answer question and hung up on me. I will never refer her any clients.

I've dealt with depression since my teens and felt I should consult a professional about possibly adjusting my medication. I'm in my late 40s and have seen a talk therapist on and off since my teens, with long stretches of seeing the same provider. I've been sober for 5 years, attend AA meetings, and have a sponsor and great friends. I don't feel I need talk therapy right now. I need my meds adjusted. She said, 'Well, clearly, you have trauma out the wahzoo! Why else would you be depressed?! Why else would you be an alcoholic!' When I said depression is a chemical imbalance, she said, 'Well, yeah! But how exactly do you think that imbalance happened?! With the dose of Bupropion you're on, I'm surprised you don't weigh 400 lbs! Do you want to get better?' She won't prescribe without genetic testing, had me swab my cheek, didn't discuss cost, and didn't care about whether insurance would cover it. I was so shell-shocked I complied but went back and canceled everything!! No thanks.

She is easy to talk with and very caring.

I saw Laveta when I was experiencing severe symptoms due to a crisis. Laveta spent 5 minutes with me, typing in her computer. She told me to swab my cheek for a genetic test that would tell her how to prescribe medication to me, and told me she does not prescribe without it. She did not share that with insurance it would be $330, and I received that surprise bill a few months later. When the genetic testing came back, she told me to stop my current medication overnight and start the new medication the next day. When I was experiencing very difficult symptoms from switching medication cold turkey, she told me during another 5 minute appointment that my symptoms were in my head because of my anxiety and that I just needed to deal with the symptoms until I started feeling better 6-8 weeks later. I felt extremely dismissed, unheard and frustrated. After this experience I switched providers and am doing much better. I do not suggest that anyone go to Laveta for their med management.

I saw Laveta for medication management a few years ago and I can tell you that if you are thinking of seeing this woman for your care do yourself a favor now and don’t. She was more interested in judging than in finding out what was wrong with me and my experience was nothing short of a nightmare. When my boyfriend passed away she called my therapist (who worked in the same building) into our session and proceeded to interview her about my life and health in front of me as if I didn’t exist. This was 2 days after he died. She is harsh is demeanor and actions and if you want to find a provider who is compassionate and caring you will not find this in Mrs. Jarrett. I would suggest continuing your search elsewhere. You would have better luck finding kindness from the actual devil than from this provider. Thanks for your time.

She comes in and out and documents a comprehensive visit.

Dismissive (literally), extremely passive-aggressive, rude, egotistical & non-caring. I saw her 3 times over 6 weeks. My mental health symptoms were worsening & I asked if it could be the new med she prescribed & she aggressively said no. She insisted I go to inpatient which I disagreed with this approach & was kicked out of her office. I left very confused & hurt about what took place. Received a letter in the mail 3 days later stating I was terminated as a patient. No empathy or professionalism to explain why while I was in her office. Appointment was less than 10 minutes. Just wrong! Stay away from this provider.

She was horrible. Passive aggressive and acted like my child was making things up. Office people were okay

As others have stated, appointments felt incredibly rushed and impersonal. First, this provider relies heavily on GeneSight testing, which is a great tool but can be restrictive when considering all symptoms. I feel that if she had been more willing to prescribe outside of my “preferred” medications, I would have found the appropriate medication much sooner. Furthermore, I felt that my concerns were often brushed off. I expressed worry that my symptoms were actually a specific disorder, as opposed to the generalized anxiety diagnosis I’d already received. She completely dismissed this possibility…yet, here, 6 months later, I’ve been formally diagnosed with the disorder I’d expressed concern about and am on the proper medication to help treat it in addition to specialized therapy. Lastly, several unkind comments were made. Some may prefer “brutally honest,” but I feel that empathy and sensitivity is paramount when working with often distressed, sometimes fragile individuals.

Very rude. Felt like any question was annoying to her. She did not listen when I said my child was worse and worried the medication was causing it. She just wanted to up the medication. Appointments were always rushed. Such a waste of time and a set back for my child. Will never recommend her for care. And trust me, I never leave reviews…but I don’t want another child to go through what mine did.

Rude. For no reason. From the minute we walked in. Didn’t explain anything. Just basically handed me paperwork and said thanks. I asked what something meant and she said it’s on the papers. Which it clearly wasn’t or I wouldn’t have asked. Will Not return.

I saw Lavetta for medication management for generalized anxiety. She was professional and friendly, but only spent 5 minutes with me out of a 15 min appointment. The first part of the visit was spent filling out paperwork with a resident (since it was an initial visit). The office staff were helpful and the facility was clean. Overall, however, I felt the price was high for a very brief consultation.
