FYI to those seeking counseling with Laurie Frank. Make sure she accepts your health insurance BEFORE you make an appointment and spend a month waiting to see her. I checked with my insurance policy first and Laurie Ann Frank LCSW was on my list of counselors covered by my health insurance. I liked what I read about her and made an appointment on 5/19/23. My appointment was scheduled for 11:00am 6/27/23. I filled out all of the forms about myself that she requested. I was looking forward to my first counseling experience with great anticipation. I drove an hour to Tyler this morning for my appointment. Finally came my appointment time. She greeted me, showed me into her office and then asked what insurance I had and I told her. She promptly told me she didn't accept my insurance. I was devastated. Shouldn't she have alerted me prior to my appointment? Prior to driving an hour to see her? My insurance information was included in the paperwork I filled out for her. I was crushed. She wrote down a number for me, but they don't accept my insurance either. I cried for half and hour in my car. I'm a retired teacher and have my health insurance through TRS. Finally, I pulled myself together and called my insurance company and they are helping me find someone who DOES accept my insurance.

Laurie Ann has always been there for me over the years. Given that mine is a lifelong issue with manic-depression, and that her specialty is dealing more with children and young adults, I was very grateful that she accepted me as a patient, and will still see me to this day when I need her to.
