Dr. Lauri Gebhard, PHD

Dr. Gebhard had me do EMDR therapy during my first visit. I was (obviously) tentative, as we had just met and had built no trust, but I decided to give it a shot. That was the first red flag. I went back to see her a few more times. At my last appointment, I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes, after 15 I texted her to let her know I was waiting. She replied 15 minutes later that she had 'tried to get a hold of me, but couldn't', and needed to reschedule. We had a string of texts above that, and I had no missed calls or voicemails from her, which made me think she was lying. That was my second red flag. A therapist that lies?I attempted to reschedule with her a few days later, and she just...never responded. She literally ghosted me. I get that not everyone is the right fit, but after essentially forcing me into EMDR at our first visit, and then flaking out on my for our final visit, I wish I had trusted my gut and said 'no thanks' right off the bat.

Dr Lauri is fantastic. She shows such compassion and authentic concern. Her EMDR therapy improved my life. She has the ability to make you feel safe and accepted. She hugged me at the end of each session and it always made me feel like she believed in me and was rooting for me!

She has helped me navigate and win against my challenges

I contacted Dr. Gebhard to schedule an appointment back in mid-January and wasn't able to get in until late April. On the day of the appointment, I showed up to her office (25 min from my house) to find that nobody was there. I tried to contact her via email (the only contact info I had for her as we had only communicated online) but got no response. She sent me an email later that day telling me that she had tried texting me multiple times right after I scheduled my appointment in January to tell me she had to cancel. However, she had the wrong phone number and didn't get a response. So, instead of trying to contact me via email, she just assumed I found a different provider. I responded back to her to reschedule and still haven't heard back nearly a week later. It takes forever to get an appointment with anyone right now and I am angry that I waited over three months for nothing. Total lack of care and professionalism. People should not have to beg for mental health care.

Dr. Gebhard is the most effective therapist/counselor I have ever experienced. She is versed in the clinical knowledge and also the metaphysical and spiritual understandings to help someone who takes a high level of responsibility for their health and direction, continue to expand and become. Her ability to be a conduit to help me help myself, for me to discover the things I need to, and to understand and release things that block my health and success, is integral to her effectiveness. Each visit I have with Dr. Gebhard results in deeper understanding and internal shifts that help me continually take me towards my goals and the life I envision. I consider Dr Gebhard to be one of my main health doctors. Our thoughts play a big part in our health and quality of life. Often I have been able to heal a physical symptom through the release I am able to create through our sessions. I highly recommend Dr. Gebhard. She assists me in living the engaging, peak life I desire.

I have now seen Dr. Gebhard 4 times and will not return. After my 1st appointment she hugged me. In over 25 years of being therapy a therapist has NEVER tried to touch me. I also have Fibromyalgia so any touch feels like excruciating pain in my body. On our 2nd appointment I discussed the inappropriate hug and she seemed taken aback but understood. Today, after our 4th session together, while I was putting on my jacket, she had me backed into a corner of the couches and again came up to me with her arms open. I yelled out, "GENTLE GENTLE GENTLE" but really I wanted to yell "GET AWAY FROM ME!" I also have spatial issues after being sexually assaulted. A patient should NEVER have to explain boundaries to a therapist. She also did NOT apologize when I explained for SECOND time I don't like to be HUGGED. So unethical and inappropriate.

Dr. Gebhard changed my life. She is very kind, caring, and encouraging. I felt so comfortable with her. She is knowledgeable, wise and compassionate. I would highly recommend her.
