I will keep this concise and professional although Laura was anything but. She dismissed, not only my, but other patients’ presenting symptoms for a narrative that fit her work ethic (which was nonexistent). It was as if patients are just a means to a paycheck and not actual living beings with value in her mind. Her treatment was so abysmal that an attending doctor apologized on her behalf and explained it was not their first time doing so. Laura’s is the kind of lackadaisical care that will cost someone their quality of life, or worse, life itself. I know because it almost cost me both. Most nurses get into healthcare to make a change and limit the suffering in the world, but there are a select few who revel and add to it; I have no doubt which of the two Laura is.
