I saw FNP Staton March 24, 2023 for an extremely sore throat with pus pockets. A strep test was done and came back negative. Her diagnosis was tonsil stones. I was simply prescribed throat lozenges, cough syrup, and allergy meds. I went home and researched tonsil stones and tried to remove them myself because I was in a considerable amount of pain. The pain continued to get worse so I saw my PCP March 26 and tested positive for strep!! My PCP explained that strep may show a false negative if the test is taken too early, so I can not blame FNP Stratton for that. However, I feel she should be able to realize when a throat looks like tonsil stones or not. My PCP said the pus pockets on my throat did not resemble tonsil stones and here I was trying to scrape them away at home! Very scary situation! Please be aware of you see FNP Staton and use your gut to see if you trust her diagnosis.
