I was referred by my NP. I am not sure this was worth time and money charged. On my insurance, this visit cost over $300 ( check your plan before your go)- more than my actual visits with an NP or MD. Kelsey is nice and easy to talk to but I didn't get a lot out of the visit. She provided me with a diabetes management booklet( similar to the one given to me years ago when first diagnosed), referred me to an app and explained how diabetes affects the body- stuff I pretty much knew already. I didn't find it particularly enlightening . I was really looking for help in meal planning and day to day nutrition. That was not the focus of the appointment. If you are NEWLY diagnosed as a diabetic, diabetic education and nutrition can be a great benefit But if you have had diabetes for a while and want help with nutrition, you would probably be better off working with someone who can actually help with meal planning or researching this on your own.

Spent lots of time (over an hour!) one-on-one with me explaining my condition and how to best manage it going forward, particularly regarding my food choices. As a newly diagnosed type 1 diabetic, I had many, many questions, and she took all the time necessary to thoroughly answer every one of them. She also helped me get connected to MyChart and gave me over a week's worth of free insulin pen needles when I mentioned I was running low on them. Highly recommended!!
