Kathy Chastain, LMFT

First of all extremely professional, attentive and caring. I feel as though I very complicated yet she had myself figured out quickly. She even hit on things that were spot on and I don’t know if she knows that. I look forward to meeting her again someday.

So far I have been very impressed with how well Kathy has gotten along with both me and my oldest daughter, who has been wrestling with some heavy issues. We have seen marked improvement in our daughter's attitude and behavior since she began having sessions with Kathy. Zero complaints!

I have been sure to share my 2 visit experience with this provider with many. It seems she had no specific training on people who suffer from trauma and how to provide trauma informed care. When I didn't have the emotional reaction she wanted or expected she chose to judge me instead of getting to know me and my situation OR realize that people who suffer from trauma can have reactions on all ends of the spectrum. She made me fear getting the help I needed for fear of being judged instead of understood. After meeting with her my depression and anxiety got worse.

I’ve visited with Kathy a few times. I usually don’t post reviews but after reading the negative review I had to chime in. I do like that shes familiar with the gospel because that is a big thing for me and she has experienced a lot of pain herself.

Couples- Kathy lacks the ability to hear the whole story before passing heavy judgement. She decided that after about 20 minutes of knowing us that we could never have a happy marriage, and needed to consider divorce as it clearly violated her own interpretation of what marriage should be (traditional). Kathy listened to one party and made notes, and never gave the other party the opening to speak. When the other party attempted to speak, the notepad was dropped to the ground and they were shamed and interrupted by Kathy. This then led to a "road block" at the 35 minute mark, and Kathy spent remaining 20 minutes of the session trying to back-pedal as she realized she upset both parties by acting so unprofessionally, to no avail. Kathy must have known how bad the session went as she begged the person she shamed "please don't hate me" multiple times, and never conducted a follow up on the session. Kathy is profoundly narrow-minded, and lacks empathy for unorthodox clientele.
