My parents and I went to Kathleen Scott for family therapy some years ago. The experience was horrible. Instead of maintaining professionalism, she decided to accept my parents' narrative that there was something intrinsically wrong with me and to blame me for my reactions to being retraumatized by being put back in the space where my cousin attempted to sexually assault me as a child. Many years later, I'm being screened for C-PTSD, which is fundamentally not about what is intrinsically wrong with a patient, but instead what happened to them, and is often about the emotional abuse and/or neglect experienced in childhood. I hope Kathleen Scott learns about C-PTSD. In the meantime, I would never, ever recommend her to anyone struggling with trauma.
