Karyn Moehring, RD

My daughter had been thriving on a meal plan when she came home from residential ED treatment. She saw Karyn to support her step down to a lower level of care. When my daughter’s weight slipped, Karyn recommended supplemental shakes, which felt like a step backward as she had had ZERO supplements throughout her treatment. That should have been a big enough red flag for me to find a different dietitian. As her weigh continued to fall, I begged Karyn to teach her some practical skills, challenge her more, or perhaps reintroduce a meal plan. Karyn’s solution? MORE SHAKES. Instead of eating actual food, my daughter was drinking up to three shakes a day. Karyn was booking 30-minute appointments with my daughter, but she was seldom in Karyn’s office for more than 10 minutes. The short appointments did not result in a discounted rate, either. I was paying for 30-minutes of support, and every meeting was a missed opportunity for my daughter to get REAL HELP! Shady, unprofessional.

I used Karyn's services for 2 years. Throughout those years the quality of care varied widely. If you are looking for your time to be used well and honor and trust to be established in the therapeutic relationship, I would advise AGAINST Karyn's services. The following are issues I experienced with her care: -Meetings were frequently changed to virtual without notice. -Much of the session was spent on anecdotes from Karyn's own life. -Karyn often complained about how stressed she was because of her number of clients (all of this was occurring while she actively advertised for new clients on the RADIO) -Karyn recounted an extremely fatphobic anecdote of her on an airplane seated next to a person who was larger than her. -Often recommends expensive supplements or resources -Did not adhere to previously established weigh-in agreements. Infrequently weighed me despite agreeing to do so. -Will recount what she has been eating in a way that seeks approval.

Sadly disappointing.
