Ms. Beatty helped me to change my life. Throughout my life I’ve felt with OCD and anxiety, with each one playing off of and intensifying the other. About 2 years ago, the symptoms collided mid-crisis and became a fireball of intense stress, intrusive thoughts, and repetitive OCD rituals. I had visited counselors and psychologists before in a perfunctory way as a child and as an adult but never found them to be a crucial service or particularly helpful for me, a nice-to-have if you will. But this time was different - I knew I needed help. With a bit of (misguided) hesitation, I chose Ms. Beatty, in spite of (wrongly) worrying that an NP might not be as equipped to help as a psychiatrist. At my first visit there was a noticeable wait, and I worried I would have a nervous breakdown before I could even be seen. As soon as Ms. Beatty began the session she said the exact words I needed to hear. This level of care takes time and heroic effort on Ms. Beatty’s part.

My only constructive comment is that the wait time can be longer than at a practice where they herd you through like cattle for the sake of a dollar. If you must stick to a schedule and your time is more important than the quality of service, I do not recommend Karen Beatty. With that said, she has been on time several times and only a few minutes late other times. Immediately before the holidays she was an hour behind schedule. She apologized. She had some clients that had particularly difficult issues that required more time in her judgment. Another day, I had been a patient with a 20 minute appointment that she spent an hour with. I had gone for medication management but was unnerved because my regular counselor had a breakdown while in session with me. I was really upset. Karen did not have to listen but she did because she cares about the whole patient. I will not complain about waiting for her ever again. I have renewed respect for her. Most highly recommended!

I’ve never waited less than 45 minutes in the waiting room. She is always late. Her practice is only open 3 days a week and is over booked. I know more about her and her family than she knows about me. The only thing good about her is that all of her appointments are made online, which is honestly the only reason I continue to go back. I just clear my afternoon as I know it’s going to be ruined. She is very nice don’t get me wrong, but not very attentive. Her phone is constantly going off for a new message of sorts and she looks to see what it is every time. Im not trying to scare anyone off, just want you to be prepared with an open schedule and not big expectations.

Scheduling is horrible. You have to wait sometimes more than an hour after your appointment to be seen. She shouldn’t push her beliefs on others. If this is a faith based office that should be clearly stated so those that do not want that particular kind of psychological help can go elsewhere. Check your medications before you leave. She has been known to write the wrong prescriptions for patients or not tell them she changed a prescription. Check your prescriptions before you leave!!!

Impossible to contact by ANY methods outside of an appointment scheduled weeks in advance. Regardless of situation or medical urgency you will not reach her by email, office phone, or personal cell phone. Office receptionists refuse to take messages and instead insist on transferring you to her voicemail, which she will never respond to. Personal experience: Did she mistakenly write you the wrong prescription for refill during your appointment? Too bad, you'll have to go without.
