Kara Waldrop, NPC

I saw Kara Waldrop when she was with a pain management practice.I have been going to pain management for over 13 years to treat horrible back pain I've had from a car accident. I've seen dozens of doctors and NP's, and Kara was the only one that understood the pain I was in. I was on some very heavy pain meds that I was reluctant to start, but followed the practice's choice. They had me start seeing Kara, and she was able to come up with a step by step plan to get me off them, and was VERY thorough about the process. She was able to get me down to the lowest amount of meds I had been ever been on. It wasn't a situation where she would say 'ok, I'm gonna cut this, and you'll come back and then we do this'. She would explain everything, tell me how much it would effect me, and then follow with assurance that I wasn't going to be left if agony. With her help, Iwas able to go back to work, which no one had achieved in 13 years. I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation.

I am immensely grateful for the exceptional care I received from my Kara during my spinal surgeries. She went above and beyond, reaching out to my surgeon at a Military Treatment Facility outside of her network to make sure we were aligned on my recovery plan and medications.Her compassion truly stood out. After my traumatic surgery, she personally followed up to check on my progress. In addition to her expertise, she worked with me on pain management, offering thoughtful suggestions for supplements while knowing when pharmaceuticals were necessary.Her attentive listening and genuine care made a significant difference in my recovery. She has left a huge gap in my plan and as soon as she returns to practice- I will be lining up regardless if where she is. I am thinking that I may need to find another provider until she does.

I have been treated by Dr Kara Waldrop for over three years in Elizabeth City, NC. I will be 68 years old in a couple of weeks and have seen my share of doctors in my lifetime. She is one of the best doctors I have ever seen, if not THE best. I am so sorry to see her go, but very happy for her to do what she loves! She has that perfect personality that makes her an amazing doctor. She has the knowledge and goes to the farthest extent possible to get you the information you ask of her. Kara is one of the finest, if not THE finest medical professional I’ve ever dealt with. She listens to her patient and uses her impressive medical knowledge to provide diagnoses and treatments. She stays on top of new developments in her field.

I have chronic pain from multiple sources. In the past I have felt like some providers used a shotgun approach to treat my pain. Kara is meticulous while maintaining a holistic approach. Kara ordered an MRI for my back. There was an emergency incidental finding of abdominal aortic aneurysm. Kara followed up with my sister several times to make sure the referral to the thoracic surgeon occurred in a timely manner. She also made several calls to make sure that my sister understood what was to happen and when. When I saw Kara postoperatively she explained the future treatment options in great detail.

Kara prides herself on the quality of care she provides. While she would never say so out loud, she displays it with her actions. She is dedicated and stays current on the latest treatment techniques and medications. She is very specific when discussing and describing the details of a treatment plan. Always ensures you are listened to and comfortable and can follow the treatment plan. If not, she works with you to help find another way you can use while keeping a positive attitude. She has always shown compassion and empathy and understands how frustrating it can be when chronic illness puts limits on daily activities. She is a team player, working with the doctor, the patient, and other staff members to accomplish the best outcome. There is much more I could say, however, I believe the following statement describes Kara's finest qualities as a nurse practitioner. Kara listens! She’s kind, compassionate and caring. She takes the time to get to know her patients. Hands down the most wonderful medical professional I have ever had. She’s truly one of a kind.

Kara has been my NP for at least the last 3 years. She is caring and knowledgeable. She has suggested many different ways to manage my pain and referred me to a surgeon when it was needed. I would highly recommend her.

Unfortunately there's not enough space to thoroughly depict her ability. She's kind, considerate and extremely knowledgeable. Will listen attentively and recommend the best remedy that she has at her disposal. Fantastic bed side manner. I've had numerous visits with her over a period of several years and not once have I come away feeling that I was not totally informed about my condition and given the complete explanation of how and why the path she is recommending is the best way best path to take to remedy it.She would be my best recommendation for seeing someone at the Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Pain Specialist facility and I would recommend her to anyone.

I have been a patient of Kara’s since she arrived at CPRS several years ago. I am very pleased with the way she listens to me and considers MY input in MY care plan. What I like about working with Kara on a regular basis: she has a very Mayo Clinic approach to medicine, as she looks at the whole picture, to see how body, mind, and spirit can be affecting pain. She thinks outside-the-box, and works diligently to help me have the best quality of life possible. But mostly, I appreciate working with someone who genuinely cares. No matter how much pain I feel, Kara’s compassion is always a comfort.

Doctor Waldrop is very understanding and takes time to listen to help you with your pain and has done a wonderful job for me. I have been in pain for 30 some years and she provides an effective plan to feel better and always asks how you are doing and is committed to your well being. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of pain management services.

Kara is committed to her patients, not just medically but emotionally. She cares about the whole patient. I had trouble asking questions about my medical problem and procedure. She could anticipate what I wanted to as and she always explained everything, from what was happening in my body and what I could expect and how to handle it. She is very knowledgeable about her craft and a very attentive person to details. I love how easy she is to talk to about anything. I have never met anyone more passionate or committed to their job.
