She was dismissive of a health issue that was showing red flags that she ignored or cared to address. I had a medical emergency because it got worse, and another doctor I went to for a follow up agreed that it could have been curbed or addressed sooner to avoid what happened. She wasn’t a good fit for me.

Very thorough and helpful

Avoid! Johanna Nesse demonstrates unacceptably bad attention to detail and poor follow through for a medical provider. She’s slow to process labs, and even slower to provide feedback. She also misdiagnoses and is slow to refer patients to specialists when she is out of her depth on basic women’s health issues. Her practice should be avoided.

I have to echo what others have said about her being uninterested in helping people find out the root cause of things. I have several symptoms, and she seemed lazy and disinterested in finding a cause. She tried to prescribe me things that were completely unrelated to what was going on, and when I told her that the things she had prescribed were not working, she suggested a naturopath when I had asked to be referred to a specialist. She is not someone who will be your partner to find answers.

She is the first person to really take the time and care for my depression related issues. Not only that but she suggested the 2 medications that worked best for me before I told her what they were!

In the 2 years that Johanna Nesse has been my PCP, I have had no support in finding a diagnosis or a way to make progress with my current physical ailments. She's very impersonal and has treated me in a way that left me wondering if I had no choice but to live in constant pain resulting from a low back and hip injury. I am SO relieved to finally be getting a new doctor to at least find the cause of this pain that has drastically changed my day to day life.
